I just got back from the Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Fla. It’s one of the industry’s largest trade shows, and this year was no different, as it set show records for the number of exhibitors and booth.
There were tons of new products, from both large and small companies. For example, Pet Safe introduced over 30 new products, while Buddy’s Line, a brand new company, debuted a line of pet bowls.
It was my first time attending the show as the editor of an industry trade publication. Previously, I was either with another company, there as a consultant or for my website My Tail Hurts From Wagging So Much (when I was doing product review on there).
The experience was bit different, as I had a lot more deadlines and work to do, but it still felt like a family reunion. That’s the thing about the pet industry — it really his like one big family. People genuinely ask how you are, they remember your pet’s name and are just overall very friendly for the most part.
It’s an absolutely great industry to be a part of.
